Reduce cardiovascular events by 25%, new findings from fish oil research can prevent 70,000 cases of cardiovascular disease every year

Does fish oil have any effect on cardiovascular health? There have been a lot of controversies about fish oil before.

However, in recent years, the team of Dr. Nathan D. Wong, a professor at the Department of Cardiology at the University of California, predicted that by taking high-purity fish oil in the United States, more than 70,000 cases of cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes, can be prevented every year. At present, the statistical analysis has been approved by the American College of Cardiology and presented at the ACC.20 World Cardiology Virtual Conference.

Prior to this, the Harvard University research team published a Reduce-IT experiment in "NEMJ", which proved that patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes have a higher risk of elevated triglycerides and stroke. However, after intervention with the intake of high-purity fish oil, the incidence of cardiovascular events and the probability of stroke in patients will be reduced by 25%.

Dr. Wong said that in some clinical trials, fish oil did not show a significant intervention effect, which may be due to the low purity of the preparation itself, and most of it is excess oil other than omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. In other words, fish oil containing high-purity omega-3 has the effect of clinical prevention and intervention.

On the basis of the above research, according to the NHANES data of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, scientists found that 319 of the 11,445 adults over the age of 45 met the high-risk criteria for cardiovascular events defined by Reduce-IT, and among them had already suffered from cardiovascular events. Disease accounted for 37%.

Their test indicators include: LDL-C of statins is 40-99 mg/dL, blood pressure <200/100mmHg, HbA1c <10%, and triglycerides are 135-499㎎/dL. It is estimated that there are at least 3 million people at high cardiovascular risk in the United States.

Scientists predicted that if the human intake of high-purity fish oil was given within a median time of 4.9 years from the Reduce-IT experiment, 71,391 cardiovascular disease events and 31,660 secondary cardiovascular events could be reduced each year. Dr. Wong said this means that for every 21 patients who consume high-purity fish oil, one can avoid cardiovascular events, which is the significance of this study.

The role of high-purity fish oil has gradually gained attention and recognition along with related research. The American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines on secondary prevention show that omega-3 intake can help reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease. The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) recommends eating fish at least twice a week, one of which is oily.

Both AHA and ESC pointed out that patients can consider taking high-purity omega-3 fish oil for the treatment of arrhythmia. ESC pointed out that patients with congestive heart failure can supplement high-purity omega-3 fish oil.

In addition to purity, dosage is also an important factor in the effectiveness of fish oil. "JAHA" also published such a study, pointing out that about 3000 mg of omega-3 per day can lower blood pressure, or reduce the systolic blood pressure of hypertensive patients by 4.5mmHg.

The analysis of the study pointed out that the blood pressure of the subjects improved with the intake of omega-3 from 0 mg to 5000 mg per day. When the daily dose was 2000 mg to 3000 mg, the blood pressure regulation of the subjects was particularly obvious.

From the perspective of the population, among the elderly population aged 45 and above, the population with high blood pressure and hyperlipidemia, there is a more obvious and nearly linear relationship between the intake of omega-3 and the improvement of blood pressure.

It can be seen that the role of omega-3 in lowering blood pressure may be more suitable for individuals with high risk of cardiovascular disease.

But scientists also stress that omega-3 intakes exceeding 3,000 mg/day do not bring significant benefits and may bring other risks. At present, it is generally recommended that the daily intake of omega-3 for adults is between 250-2000 mg, and it is not suitable to take too much.

You can increase your omega-3 levels through your diet or by taking fish oil. If it is supplemented by food, its conversion rate is low, the conversion speed is slow, and it is difficult to meet the needs of the human body.

In view of the fact that fish oil is rich in omega-3 ingredients, high-purity omega-3 supplements—golden to deep-sea fish oil may become a better way of intake. Its purity reaches 96%, the highest in the current industry, and its daily intake of omega-3 is as high as 1320 mg, including 742 mg of DHA and 578 mg of EPA.

No matter in terms of purity or content, it can meet people's daily intake needs and will not have negative effects.

It is not difficult to find that most people who are concerned about cardiovascular health are looking for goldfish oil mainly in terms of purity, content, quality, and effect, etc. In fact, it is not difficult to understand that the purity and content determine whether fish oil can play a corresponding role, and these two aspects depend on the raw materials and processes of fish oil.

As far as Jinzhi fish oil is concerned, it uses Peruvian wild anchovies as raw materials, combined with advanced techniques such as multi-stage molecular distillation, "winterization", and "five detoxification", so as to achieve 96% to high purity of fish oil, no freezing in winter and no fishy smell . The quality of fish oil determines its reliability, and its quality testing also includes a number of indicators, such as heavy metals, pesticide residues, microorganisms, acid value, etc.

To sum up, fish oil can indeed help our health, but the premise is that the quality of the fish oil itself meets the standard. It is impossible to talk about the effect regardless of the purity, content, quality and other aspects. In addition, diet, rest and daily exercise are also very important, and dietary supplements cannot completely replace the use of drugs.
