Will life arise naturally? Why dig a pond at random and fish will appear soon after

There is a strange phenomenon that many people don't understand. In a newly dug pond, if there are no fish and shrimps in it, why will there be fish in the pond over time? Where did these fish and shrimp come from?

I am also full of curiosity about this strange phenomenon.

A few years ago, my grandfather dug a pond in front of our house. It was originally intended to store water and irrigate crops while welding. The pond is not very big, about 1.5 meters deep. Usually no one goes to Dali, and there are various aquatic plants growing in it.

Last summer, which was also the third year after the pond was dug, I caught a big carp weighing more than 4 catties in the pond.

Later, my family and I drained the pond, and we managed to salvage nearly 100 catties of fish, including grass carp, carp, crucian carp, a few mullet, and many other small fish and shrimp.

This makes people feel strange, my family has never put fish in it, so in just a few years, so many fish have been fished out?

Is it possible that these fish all use fish wings as wings to fly over? I have all sorts of questions and conjectures in my mind.

So, I took this question and asked my grandfather. They are older and have more knowledge. Maybe he can give me the answer.

After listening to my question, my grandfather smiled and said that many things in nature are uncertain, and any phenomenon can happen. Grandpa told me several possibilities, and I also went to understand this issue.

01. Grass seeds of thousands of years, fish seeds of ten thousand years

I don't know if you have heard the phrase "thousand-year grass seeds, ten thousand-year fish seeds". Post-germination records.

Although ten thousand years of fish roe is a bit exaggerated, it is impossible for fish roe to hatch after 10,000 years, but it is possible to survive for a certain period of time before hatching. For example, the lungfish in Africa, when the dry season comes, it will secrete a kind of mucus to wrap itself, hide in the mud and enter a dormant state, waiting for the rainy season to recover.

The life of fish is much stronger than we imagined, especially fish roe, which can survive in the soil even if they leave the water, as long as they are not exposed to the sun. Fish seeds can survive for so long thanks to their unique biological structure. Almost every small fish roe has an outer membrane, and the nutrients needed for growth are stored in the membrane, so this membrane can isolate the influence of the external environment , play the role of heat preservation and moisturizing, to ensure that the fish roe will not die immediately due to lack of water.

Maybe there are some fish roe in the soil under our feet. When encountering a suitable water source and temperature, they will be activated in just a few days and then develop into small fish fry.

Some people think this situation is not very real, but nature sometimes has some unexpected things. Let's not deny it yet, we can take this phenomenon as a hypothesis. Just like scientific research, a hypothesis will be proposed first, and then it will be proved by repeated experiments and a large amount of evidence.

02. The fish in the pond may have been brought by other animals

The biggest natural enemies of fish are not only predators in the ocean and ponds, but also water birds flying in the air. They often jump down and peck the fish up from the water surface. But in fact, water birds are not only natural enemies of fish, on the contrary, water birds can also help fish reproduce and survive.

When waterfowl prey on fish, they also bring a large number of eggs. After these eggs are stuck to the body of waterfowl, they will throw fish eggs into the pool when they hunt next time, so as to reproduce in the water.

There are a lot of aquatic plants in our pond, which may also be a favorite place for waterfowl, so it is possible that the fishflies fell into the pond after the waterfowl preyed on them.

Also, in ponds, poultry (ducks, geese) that play for food may also bring fish eggs to newly dug ponds.

This kind of situation is also relatively common. When I used to read books or wash clothes by the water, I often saw waterfowl holding fish in their mouths.

03. The fish in the pond may be from underground undercurrents, culverts and ditches

Many of us may have experienced that when it was raining heavily, we saw fish swimming against the current in some ditches or even on the road, or flowing in different waters. I remember when I was in junior high school, I picked up a mullet on a dirt road.

There are also undercurrents in the waters of some ponds, which means that there is groundwater connected, so when it rains, when the water level reaches a certain level, the fish and shrimp in one pond will run to another pond.

It happened that there was a paddy field on the upper right of my pond. I heard from my family that there were fish in that field, and there were many kinds of fish. No wonder there are quite a lot of fish species salvaged in our pond.

Those who played by the water when they were young may find that there are various openings everywhere on the ridge of the pond. These openings are usually made by crabs, loaches, eels, crayfish, etc. connected to other waters. Therefore, some fish came running through these holes.

Especially the big carp weighing more than four catties, otherwise, in just 2-3 years, no fry should grow to such a large size, so it is very likely that they came from other waters.

04. The fish in the pond may be brought by flooding or tornado

During the rainy season, the water level in the river and some paddy fields are still rising, and some low-lying places will have large water overflows, and the fish in it will flow along the water to other places. This kind of possibility is still relatively large. In my impression, there were several floods in those years, and fish may have run into it.

Under certain circumstances, tornadoes can form on some water surfaces. As the tornado spins, water is sucked into the air, creating a waterspout. If there are fish in the water, there is a chance that they will be caught in the waterspout. As the waterspout moves, the fish are also diverted elsewhere. When the waterspout disappears, the water and fish that were lifted into the air will fall down, and the "fish rain" may enter the pond. In the past, I saw the news saying, "fish in the sky", this is probably the same phenomenon.

05. The fish in the pond may have been put in by others

Although our family did not release fish in this pond, I am not sure if others have released fish.

There are also many Buddhist believers in our rural areas. My neighbor next door has a grandmother who believes in Buddhism. She goes to the temple to pray for blessings on the first and fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year. She also buys fish fry from time to time and releases them. It may be that no one manages the pond, and some poultry are not kept. I think it is safer and no one will catch it.

This possibility is also very high.

The occurrence of these situations may be the reason why there are more and more fish in our fish pond. It's just that in our understanding, if there are no fish in the pond, then there must be no fish in the water.

Then, the source of the fish in these ponds may be one or several of the situations I shared with you.

After listening to what my grandfather told me, I can't help feeling that the older generation still understands a wide range of things. At the same time, it also solved the long-standing doubts in my heart, and let me get some answers to the question that there were fish in a newly dug pond without fish.

After knowing this, I also figured out a problem, that is, why there are fish in some wells.

I have to say that the world of nature is really wonderful, which fills us with curiosity, and it is precisely because of these wonderful things that we continue to have the interest and courage to explore nature.

Through continuous understanding and exploration, let us continue to increase some scientific and biological knowledge, and also exercise our thinking to discover, explore and solve problems, and be able to discover the essence behind things from the surface.

Now do you know something about the phenomenon that there are fish in a newly dug pond without fish? Do you know of any other reasons why this happens?
