Summer is the rainy season in China, because most parts of China have a monsoon climate, which is characterized by high temperature and rain in summer. Today, I want to introduce a special scenic spot to you. It is known as China's "Rain City". It rains more than 200 days a year, which is strange. If you know this title, then you must know where the city is.

This city called "Rain City" is Ya'an! This is a prefecture-level city in Sichuan Province, with an area of 15,000 square kilometers and a population of about 1.44 million. Does Ya'an's "Rain City" title live up to its name? In one year, it rained for more than 200 days here. Many people said that the sky in Ya'an was leaking, so there is a local saying that "the sky is leaking in Ya'an". In this way, Ya'an's title of "Rain City" is very realistic.

Why is there so much precipitation in Ya'an?

This has a lot to do with the local geographical conditions! The west side of Ya'an is the "Roof of the World" Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the east side is the Sichuan Basin, with high slopes on one side and depressions on the other. Ya'an, which is located between these two landforms, is often affected by the interaction between the subsidence air flow on the plateau and the warm and humid air flow in the basin. In addition, the south branch west wind from the Indian Ocean carries a large amount of warm and humid air flow, and is often forced to move eastward around the plateau. Enter Ya'an. Therefore, under the interaction of these several airflows, Ya'an has the climatic characteristics of "more rainy days, longer rainy days, and greater rainfall", and has become our country's "rain city".

Besides the title of "Rain City", are there any other special attractions in Ya'an?

  1. Bifeng Gorge

Bifeng Gorge, a canyon-type natural scenic area composed of sandstone, conglomerate and mudstone, is a national 4A-level tourist attraction. Bifengxia Scenic Spot consists of two "V"-shaped canyons. The left canyon is 7 kilometers long and the right canyon is 6.5 kilometers long. It has the most obvious canyon scenery characteristics and the scenery is beautiful. The forest coverage rate of Bifeng Gorge is over 90%, and it is known as the "Lung of Heaven". Nature is magical and great. The long-term scouring of rain has not only formed this canyon, but also formed dozens of waterfalls at the crevice at the bottom of the valley, making this beautiful place.

  1. Red Bean Acacia Valley

Red Bean Acacia Valley, another famous scenic spot in Ya'an, Sichuan, is located in Houyan Village, Bifengxia Town, north of Yucheng District. Just hearing the name, you know that this scenic spot must be inseparable from the red beans. In fact, it is precisely because there is a thousand-year-old red bean tree in the scenic spot, so it is called "Red Bean Acacia Valley".

The height of this red bean tree is about 31 meters, the diameter at breast height is 2.6 meters, and the crown diameter is about 30 meters. The age of the tree has reached more than 1,400 years. It is definitely an ancient tree! Looking from a distance, you can see a big tree emerging from the woods, like a big green umbrella propped up on the forest, which is really rare.

Ya'an, with the title of "Rain City", not only has beautiful and spectacular natural scenery, but also has a very strong cultural heritage. It is the only way to go through the "Ancient Southern Silk Road" and is a famous historical and cultural city. I wonder if you have ever seen the charm of this "Rain City" in China?
