Songzanlin Monastery was built in 1679 AD and completed in 1681 AD. The fifth Dalai Lama personally gave it the name "Gadan Songzanlin", and later generations called it "Gadan Songzanlin Monastery". Songzanlin Temple consists of two main temples, namely Zhacang Temple and Jikang Temple. These two main temples are built on the highest point and occupy the center of the whole temple. The Great Temple faces south and is a five-storey Tibetan-style carved building with a Han-style temple architectural style. The lower hall has 108 pillars, which represent the auspicious numbers of Buddhists. The hall can accommodate 1,600 people.
