Chinese wine culture has a long history, and wine plays an important role in the lives of some people. During ward rounds, a small number of lung cancer patients would secretly ask me: I know smoking is bad for the lungs, so I quit smoking long ago. Drinking has no effect on the lungs. . Faced with this kind of problem, I have repeatedly warned patients not to drink alcohol. Apart from getting a little psychological satisfaction, drinking alcohol is really harmful to the body and has nothing to do with it.

  1. Alcohol has been linked to many types of cancer

A study published in the prestigious journal "Nature" found that under the action of alcohol and its metabolite acetaldehyde, healthy hematopoietic stem cells can mutate and become permanently mutated and irreparable, which increases the risk of cancer. In October 2018, the American ASCO released the latest data from cancer sources. 41% of oral cancer, 23% of throat cancer, 22% of liver cancer and 21% of esophageal cancer are related to alcohol consumption. Others such as breast cancer, colorectal cancer, The occurrence of gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer is also directly related to alcohol.

Although alcohol is not directly related to lung cancer, people who have already had lung cancer belong to the high-risk group of cancer. Even if the early lung cancer is cured by surgery, if you drink without any scruples, the risk of developing second primary cancer will increase significantly.

  1. Drinking alcohol damages the liver

We have encountered more than one lung cancer patient clinically, and the liver function was obviously abnormal after only one chemotherapy, which affected the follow-up treatment. When asked about past bad habits, all of them have a history of drinking a lot in the past. It is an indisputable fact that drinking alcohol damages the liver. If you drink alcohol without any scruples after you have lung cancer, if the disease recurs and progresses, it will greatly affect the follow-up medication, because whether it is chemotherapy drugs, targeted drugs or immunotherapy drugs, there are requirements for liver function. People with poor hepatic reserve have very limited drug use, and alcohol interferes with the metabolism of many drugs.

  1. Drinking alcohol is bad for the prognosis of lung cancer

First of all, the stimulation of alcohol on the throat will induce cough and expectoration. Patients with lung cancer are prone to cough after surgery, and drinking may aggravate the cough. Secondly, alcohol hurts the stomach, and the gastric mucosa of the patient after chemotherapy has been damaged, and the digestion and absorption function is reduced. Drinking alcohol will further aggravate the gastric mucosal damage. In addition, drinking alcohol will accelerate blood circulation, reduce the body's immune function, and increase the probability of recurrence and metastasis of lung cancer.

Drinking alcohol is not recommended for healthy people, and it is not recommended for any cancer patient. Regarding the safe drinking amount of alcohol, the World Health Organization believes that under normal circumstances, the daily intake of pure alcohol for men should not exceed 25 grams, while the current safe drinking standard in China is that the daily alcohol intake does not exceed 15 grams, and women consume no more than 15 grams of alcohol per day. The amount should be less. This amount is aimed at healthy people. It may not be enough for people who love to drink. Lung cancer patients, who are a special group, should stay away from alcohol.
