Speaking of the taboos of confinement, a friend shared her experience with me.

After being pushed out of the delivery room, the old man in the family stepped forward and asked, "Doctor, how long will it take for her to eat? My pork ribs are all stewed."

Seeing that the old man was so impatient, the doctor smiled and said, "Let's eat some light food now, I can't drink ribs soup."

Regarding the issue of drinking soup after childbirth, many people actually have a misunderstanding, thinking that the sooner you drink soup, the sooner you will produce milk.

In fact, although the confinement of novice mothers is passed down from the older generation, not all of them can follow suit. If taboos are violated, a series of problems may occur, such as the inability to return the belly fat, flattened and enlarged buttocks, accelerated aging, and so on.

Next, I will summarize for you the top ten taboos that cannot be committed during the 42-day confinement period after childbirth. This is not a traditional superstition, but a scientific conclusion from the perspective of nursing and nutrition. Mothers should pay attention and don't take it lightly.

Postpartum confinement, these ten taboos should not be violated

  1. As soon as the delivery room is delivered, it will be greatly supplemented

Traditional Chinese medicine says that deficiencies cannot be replenished, and the body of a mother who has just given birth is very weak, and direct supplementation must not be able to bear it.

Not to mention anything else, let’s just talk about the internal organs that are oppressed by the uterus during pregnancy, it takes time to return to their place slowly. If it is a natural delivery, it needs a period of rest. If it is a caesarean section, because the stomach is emptied before the operation, it is necessary to wait until after the operation before eating.

If you eat supplementary food too early, it is likely to damage the stomach.

What's more, the first problem faced after giving birth is breastfeeding. At this time, because the mother has not given milk and the mammary glands are not smooth, she needs to suck for stimulation. If the mammary glands have not been dredged, tonic will cause the milk to swell, which is not beneficial to the baby and the mother.

Tips:

Confinement supplementation and conditioning are regular, and the principle of "one row, two adjustments and three supplements" must be followed.

That is to say, the first week after delivery is mainly for metabolism and detoxification, the second week is for conditioning the body to contract the uterus and pelvis, and it is not until the third week that nutrition can be truly nourished.

  1. Hold back urine and stool

Caesarean section has an incision in the abdomen, and natural delivery may also have tearing or side incision, but it is wrong to hold back urine and defecate because you are afraid of wound pain and not being able to go to the toilet.

Because the retention of excrement will affect the contraction of the uterus, which is not conducive to postpartum recovery.

Tips:

Whenever there is urine or the desire to defecate, it is necessary to expel it as soon as possible. The first time is very painful, but the second time it is slightly better.

In addition, don't stop drinking water and eating fruits because you are afraid of going to the toilet because you are afraid of pain. If constipation occurs, defecation will be more painful.

  1. Ao Ye

Most novice mothers will have a feeling of being both real and illusory after giving birth. In addition, they have to feed the baby at night and like to look at the baby excitedly without rest.

But this is not good for the recovery of the body, you should take all the time to rest after giving birth.

Tips:

Half an hour after giving birth, mothers should seize the time to take a nap. In addition to getting out of bed for activities in the three days after delivery, try to rest as much as possible for the rest of the time. The most important thing in normal times is to try to keep your own and your baby's work and rest time consistent.

Babies feed a lot during confinement, and mothers don’t have a good rest, so they have to stay upside down day and night. The best way at this time is to adjust the biological clock and work and rest with the baby.

  1. Do not brush your teeth or clean your body

The traditional view is that water should not be touched during confinement. In fact, part of the reason is that it is limited by the ancient nursing environment, and in this case, the incidence of female gynecological inflammation has also become higher.

If the skin is not clean, a large number of bacteria will take advantage of it. If there is a wound on the body, it may be infected. There is also a risk when breastfeeding the baby.

Tips:

After the postpartum recovery, you can take a shower, but you should try to end the battle within 5-10 minutes, and keep the room temperature and water temperature, and dry it immediately after washing.

Of course, if the postpartum body is particularly weak, and the usual physical fitness is not good, don't force yourself to take a bath. It is better to take a bath in the morning and evening with the assistance of your family.

For caesarean section, you generally have to wait until the incision has almost recovered a week or two after delivery before you can take a bath, and remember to disinfect with iodophor afterwards.

  1. Stay in bed all the time

It's true that you need rest during confinement, but that doesn't mean you have to stay in bed all the time.

There is an old saying that if you lie down more on the bed, you will not suffer from back pain, but this is not the case. You can only change a few sleeping positions in bed all the time, and you will still suffer from back pain.

Furthermore, when lying down, the bladder will oppress the uterus, which can easily lead to uterine prolapse, and constipation can easily occur if the intestines do not move.

Tips:

Three days after giving birth, you can go down to the ground and move slowly. You can walk, turn over, and lift your arms and legs.

One week after giving birth, you can do some small housework of folding clothes; four weeks after giving birth, you can do simple exercise, and postpartum yoga is recommended.

  1. Eat MSG

Since postpartum meals are relatively light, in order to enhance the taste, many people will put MSG in them.

However, the sodium glutamate in it may be passed to the baby through breast milk, which may cause zinc deficiency in the baby within 12 weeks.

  1. Touch cold water after 30 days

The public thinks that confinement is 30 days, but in fact it is 42 days in medicine.

Some mothers have suffered for 30 days, and began to "let themselves go" as soon as they were born, but they still can't touch cold water at this time. Generally, doctors recommend it after 8 weeks.

  1. Confinement

It is true that you need to keep warm during confinement, but it is not good to cover it too much. After all, there are many people in the family, and if someone comes to visit, they may carry bacteria and viruses. In a warm confined space, the chance of infection will increase.

Tips:

It is necessary to open the window for ventilation during the confinement period. It is recommended that before opening the window for ventilation, the mother and baby go to another room to stay, and return to room temperature after the ventilation is completed.

If the temperature is too high in summer, you can turn on the air conditioner, but you must install a windshield to prevent direct blowing.

  1. Not exercising

We all know that breastfeeding can help you lose weight and restore your figure to a certain extent, but that doesn't mean you don't need to make other efforts.

In fact, some breastfeeding mothers and children are two or three years old, and their stomachs are still loose. After all, in addition to fat accumulation, rectus abdominis separation during pregnancy is very difficult to recover.

Tips:

The puerpera should decide what to do according to the degree of separation of the rectus abdominis. If the distance between the two muscles exceeds three fingers, seek the help of a professional doctor. If the distance between the two muscles is less than three fingers, you can do plank support or wear an abdominal belt.

  1. Premature intercourse

Many puerperas think that if lochia is drained, they can have a married life. In fact, this idea is wrong. There are wounds in the uterus, cervix, and intestines, and they need to be well recovered.

The married life should be at least 42 days later, and it can be postponed according to one's own situation.
