Playing chess on the computer, watching mobile phones on WeChat, and playing games on the iPad... have gradually become the "trilogy" of human life. In particular, a sudden epidemic has almost disrupted the rhythm of everyone's life. During the epidemic, in addition to using mobile phones to pass the time, everyone at home is using TV to add fun. In this way, vision problems such as dryness, fatigue, dimness, and blurring follow.

Statistics show that in China, nearly 400 million patients suffer from various eye diseases every year, of which about 6.7 million are blind, and the number of new blind people is as high as 450,000 every year. In addition, the total number of patients with fundus diseases in China has exceeded 10 million, and there are more than 3 million new fundus patients in China every year.

How to protect the eyes has become a big problem that needs to be solved urgently. To this end, as the 25th National Eye Care Day is approaching, 39Health.com invited Professor Xu Xun, director of the National Eye Disease Clinical Research Center, to talk about the prevention and treatment of fundus diseases.

Eye disease can lead to sudden loss of vision and even blindness

At present, common ophthalmic diseases are usually divided into ocular surface diseases and fundus diseases, among which fundus diseases have greater damage to visual function.

There are many types of fundus diseases, also known as "eye cancer", including age-related macular degeneration, fundus lesions of hypertension, fundus complications caused by diabetes, and fundus complications caused by high myopia. big.

It is generally believed that the increase in the incidence of fundus diseases year by year is mainly related to three factors:

First, the population is aging. At present, China has entered an aging society. With the development of the economy and the prolongation of life expectancy, the incidence of fundus diseases continues to rise.

The second is the complications of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Hypertension can cause vascular occlusion and hemorrhage in the fundus, leading to ischemia of the fundus, resulting in serious complications and eventually blindness. In addition, there are 140 million diabetic patients in China, of which 50 million suffer from fundus lesions and their vision is significantly reduced.

Third, electronic products are becoming more and more popular. Electronic products are the main culprit for the high incidence of high myopia, and high myopia can cause many traction lesions and atrophic lesions.

Affected by the above factors, the most terrifying aspect of eye disease is that it can lead to sudden loss of vision and even blindness. As everyone knows, in daily life, everyone can timely check the fundus diseases through self-examination. In this regard, Professor Xu Xun suggested:

On the one hand, cover one eye and look at fixed objects in your home, such as a straight line in a corner of a wall. If there is a fundus disease, then, it will be found that the straight line becomes curved, or there is a break in the middle of the straight line; on the other hand, through the Amsler table, the table consists of black and white squares, and there is a black dot in the middle of the square, if the fundus If there is a disease, then any straight lines in the table will appear curved, distorted, or discontinuous.

"The public generally lacks a correct understanding of fundus diseases, and often misses the best time for treatment, resulting in irreparable damage to vision and even blindness. Therefore, daily self-examination is very necessary." Professor Xu Xun emphasized.

Self-examination can be achieved with two strategies for dealing with fundus diseases

In fact, many clinical research data also show that if the patient is treated within one month of the onset, the effect will be significantly improved.

Once diagnosed, standardized treatment in the later stage cannot be ignored. According to 39 Health Network, regarding the treatment of fundus diseases, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA, formerly CFDA) is also constantly introducing effective drugs into the country. For example, anti-VEGF drugs have obvious effects in the treatment of ocular fundus diseases, and are currently the main way to treat some ocular fundus diseases.

"Before the introduction of anti-VEGF drugs into China, the best treatment for patients was maintenance therapy or laser therapy. After the emergence of anti-VEGF drugs, their greatest effect can turn blind patients into people who can take care of themselves. The contrast is large. ." Professor Xu Xun said vividly when talking about the role of anti-VEGF drugs.

Of course, in addition to treatment, in daily life, everyone must also pay attention to the prevention and treatment of fundus diseases.

First of all, middle-aged and elderly people need to pay attention to changes in vision. Compared with the well-known cataracts, glaucoma, and presbyopia, the awareness rate of fundus diseases is low, it is easy to be confused with other common eye diseases, and it is easy to be ignored by middle-aged and elderly people. However, if the typical manifestations of fundus disease occur, such as sudden loss of vision in one eye or sudden dark shadows in vision, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible to identify the cause and treat it symptomatically.

Second, strengthen the screening of high-risk groups. For patients with unclear vision and abnormal fundus, the four tests in the standard inspection package should be completed at the first visit; for patients with severe diabetes (such as continuous use of insulin for blood sugar control, etc.), even if there is no change in vision, they should Complete a standard fundus examination at least once a year.

In addition, pay attention to daily eye care and preventive measures for fundus lesions. Pay attention to the control of "three highs" such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood lipids, and make reasonable adjustments to daily routines, including paying attention to ventilation in the living and working environment, maintaining a certain humidity, preventing eye fatigue, and adopting more health care measures such as distant views and hot compresses.
