Can women wear bras to enlarge their breasts? Can cause cancer? Why are there so many rumors about women's bras!

Some people say that wearing underwear will affect your health, others say that not wearing underwear will cause your breasts to sag, and some people say that wearing underwear can cure diseases? It even said that some bras can enlarge breasts?

Every time I see these specious remarks, as a breast surgeon, I really want to take them to a lesson in physiology and anatomy.

When we understand the physiological structure of breasts, we will find that many opinions are actually untenable, and girls don't have to pay IQ tax based on hearsay.

Underwear and bras, also known as bra, are obviously the most personal and familiar clothing for the majority of female friends, but somehow there are various rumors that confuse the public.

Today's article is to refute the rumors.

Basic knowledge of breast physiology

First, let me introduce the basic physiological knowledge of breasts.

The breast is a human organ consisting of skin, fibrous tissue, adipose tissue, and mammary glands, both men and women.

During puberty, under the stimulation of hormones, glands develop and fat accumulates. Girls begin to feel the changes in their bodies. The shape and size of their breasts are basically fixed at the age of 15-17.

The composition of the breasts is similar, and the size of the breasts mainly depends on the fat content. Apart from surgery or exercising the chest muscles, there is really no room for changes in the chest.

Knowledge points for dispelling rumors

01

Rumor has it that wearing a bra can make your breasts bigger?

We have already introduced before that the fat content determines the size of breasts, which is affected by race, genetics and individual development. The first two are "fate", and the last one depends on luck. In short, it all depends on fate.

Can wearing a bra cause fat accumulation? Increase breast tissue? I think it's easier to let the water in your head.

So wearing a bra to make your breasts bigger is completely nonsense. As for the so-called spa massage for breast enlargement, it is even more unreasonable. The only possible way is to squeeze out some looming cleavage to support the scene, but strong compression is harmful to the breasts, but not beneficial, please think twice!

02

Rumor 2: Wearing a bra can prevent sagging?

We must first figure out why the breasts sag.

Some of the fibrous tissue of the breast, which fixes the breast tissue and connects the pectoral fascia, is called the suspensory ligament of the breast, also known as Cooper's ligament.

Cooper's ligaments connect and support the breast structure like a net, resisting gravity, but with age, this net will also age, causing breasts to sag. Of course, there are many factors for breast sagging. Multiple births and breastfeeding will also shrink the mammary glands, making the breasts sag.

A supportive bra can relieve the pressure on Cooper's ligament to a certain extent, especially for women with larger breasts, it is more necessary, but it can only slow down, and cannot prevent sagging. And this is on the premise that you choose the right bra.

Some bras with a concentrated effect may improve the appearance when worn, but the internal structure of the chest will not change because of this, and it may also damage the Cooper ligament because you choose the wrong size.

03

Rumor has it that wearing a bra three times can treat secondary breasts?

I think many people have misunderstood the concept of auxiliary milk.

In the embryonic period of human beings, there are 6 to 8 pairs of mammary gland primordials growing on the two lines from the armpit to the groin.

Before birth, except for the pair on the chest, the rest have degenerated. If these mammary gland primordials are not completely degenerated due to abnormal development, multiple breasts are formed.

The vast majority of accessory mammary glands present as preaxillary or underarm swelling or bulge, and fully developed nipples may also exist.

The "meaty" underarms can only be called auxiliary breasts if they have nipples or breast tissue. If you are simply fat and have too much meat, don't give this pot to the auxiliary breasts!

The production of auxiliary breasts is congenital and has nothing to do with the style, age, or size of the bra worn.

If there are words such as "gathering", "accepting side breasts" and "preventing sagging" in bra's advertisements, it is estimated that it will be another wave of products that harvest IQ tax.

Rumor 4: Wearing a bra increases the risk of breast cancer?

In a 2014 study comparing bra usage among postmenopausal women with and without invasive breast cancer, researchers found that cup size, underwire presence, time to first bra wear, and average wear time were all associated with breast cancer. Cancer risk is irrelevant.

Therefore, female friends can use bras with confidence.

The occurrence of breast cancer is related to many factors, including genetic inheritance, environment, diet, emotion, etc., but wearing or not wearing a bra may be the least relevant one.

Rumor 5 Sports underwear is an IQ tax product?

Sports underwear really has its meaning.

If there are large movements such as running and jumping during exercise, the female breasts will also shake. In the process, the Cooper's ligament and other connective tissues will be at risk of being torn. The larger the chest size, the greater the chance of Cooper's ligament injury.

Sports bras can reduce breast vibration, reduce the likelihood of Cooper's ligament injuries, and allow women to perform better movements.

For most women (except for some girls with relatively flat chests), wearing a sports bra is a must when exercising.

With the development of the clothing industry, all kinds of bras have been extended, for daily wear, for sports equipment, for matching dresses, for oneself and for others...

However, as long as you want to, you don't have to wear it.

After understanding the impact of wearing a bra on health problems, the rest of the choice is of course yours~
