Three basic recipes for 'regulating menstruation'
Introduction: Eliminating old stasis is the main task of menstruation, so how to remove it? Are there any issues that need special attention during treatment? Learn from Mr. Xia Guicheng's experience!
Menstrual period refers to the period from the onset of menstruation to the end of the menstrual period. The menstrual period is the end of an old cycle and the beginning of a new one.
During the menstrual period, all outdated substances in the uterus, that is, the sea of blood, must be eliminated, giving way to the new life. Therefore, the ancients proposed that "menstrual period should be adjusted for menstruation."
We believe that "menstrual flow must be completely, clean, thorough, and completely drained of the menstrual blood that should be drained", and "one point of stasis and turbidity is left, and one point of new life is affected."
The end of the old cycle needs to remove all the old substances in the uterine blood, including the old substances in the pelvic cavity, ovaries, fallopian tubes, etc., especially the turbid fluid brought by the heavy yin, giving way to the new life, giving way to the new cycle. The normal evolution of the menstrual period, so the elimination of old stasis is the main task of the menstrual period.
Therefore, there are also light, medium and heavy methods for menstruation regulation, ranging from general menstruation regulation, medium to promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, and heavy to removing blood stasis and dredging the meridians. Due to different physical conditions, conditions, climate, etc., nursing during menstruation is also quite important.
01
general menstruation method
The general method of regulating menstruation is to use mild blood-activating drugs to make the menstrual cycle smooth, which is a more commonly used method.
During menstruation, although the excretion is not all blood, it must be excreted by activating blood because it is related to blood.
Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Siwu Decoction has been widely used, and some people still believe that Siwu Decoction can rule all diseases of women. Although his statement is overstated, it does reflect the importance of Siwu Decoction in gynecology.
The four herbs of Di, Shao, Gui and Xiong in Siwu Decoction have the effect of nourishing blood and regulating menstruation, among which Di and Shao nourish blood and belong to yin, while Gui and Xiong regulate menstruation and belong to yang.
If applied during menstruation, Angelica sinensis and Xiong are the main ones, Rehmannia glutinosa can be removed, and red peony root can be used for peony.
In fact, many traditional medicines for menstrual adjustment are all based on this, such as early soup, expired drink, Zelan leaf soup, Xionggui Jingjing drink, bergamot powder and so on.
Through years of clinical practice, we have explored Wuwei Tiaojing Decoction, which includes 10g of Chinese angelica, 5g of chuanxiong, 12g of Wulingzhi, 6~9g of mugwort, and 15g of motherwort. It is taken during the menstrual period according to the odd-numbered law of "7, 5, and 3". Then stop, generally use 5 days, and some can be served for 7 days or 3 days.
This prescription is mild in nature and widely used, but it should be used with caution or disabled in the following two situations.
One is blood heat menorrhagia or prolonged menstrual period, and it is not easy to count on time and clean.
Because angelica, chuanxiong and mugwort leaves in this recipe all have acrid and warm properties, which can help the fire, and after taking it can cause aggravation of heat and increased bleeding, so it is not suitable.
Second, menorrhagia due to qi deficiency or prolonged menstrual period due to qi deficiency.
Due to qi deficiency, inability to absorb and control blood, uterine atony, and bleeding caused by excessive blood flow, promoting blood circulation and regulating menstruation will inevitably lead to more and longer bleeding, which is not suitable.
In our long-term clinical use, we found that some of the drugs in this recipe still have great deficiencies, so we made the addition and subtraction Wuwei Tiaojing Decoction. 12g, Poria 10g, Artemisia argyi leaf 6~9g, Zelan leaf 10~12g, Motherwort 15~30g.
The reason for these additions and subtractions is that some female patients in cities have weak spleen and stomach, and are prone to diarrhea during menstruation or after taking medicine.
Although it has the effect of nourishing blood and regulating menstruation, it has the disadvantage of moistening the intestines and laxatives, which is easy to cause loose stools, so it has to be replaced by salvia miltiorrhiza.
The so-called "blindly salvia, the power is the same as the four things", and salvia is better than angelica in regulating meridians, so it is often used.
Modern women are not only busy with work, but also do more housework, work too hard, and have a lot of physique.
Although Chuanxiong is an essential medicine for menstruation regulation, it is warm in nature, which is easy to cause heart and liver fire, and Chuanxiong moves blood, so it is not suitable for female patients who are prone to bleeding, so it is often replaced by red peony.
Red peony is sour and cold, promotes blood circulation and regulates menstruation, has a certain effect of clearing away heat and reducing fire, and regulates menstruation without causing bleeding. It is quite a good product.
The menstrual blood discharged during the menstrual period contains a lot of dampness and turbidity, so the predecessors called it "menstrual water", which is necessary for the menstrual period to remove the turbidity and eliminate the old and welcome the new, so Poria and Zelan are used in the recipe.
Excretion of menstruation, uterine diarrhea, that is, the role of opening, but contain hidden in the diarrhea. If the purgative is appropriate and does not damage the positive, then the medicine for nourishing the kidney must be added.
Chuan Xuduan not only has the effect of renewing tendons and promoting blood circulation, but also has the function of invigorating the kidney and helping the yang. It not only regulates menstruation, but also has the effect of invigorating the kidney and invigorating the uterus.
02
Activating blood and removing blood stasis
Compared with the general menstrual regulation method, this method is more powerful in promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.
The most commonly used clinically is Tongyu Decoction. Tongyujian comes from "Jingyue Quanshu·Xinfang Bazhen·Yinzhen".
Zhang Jingyue used it to treat dysmenorrhea in "Women's Regulations", and pointed out: "If blood stasis is not enough, it is completely stagnant without deficiency.
This prescription is used to treat women with qi stagnation and blood accumulation, unfavorable meridians, dysmenorrhea, refusal to press and postpartum blood stasis and pain, and symptoms such as blood stasis in men and women.
Medicinal Huiwei 12g, hawthorn, Cyperus officinalis, safflower each 9g, black medicine 6g, green peel 5g, wood incense 6g, Alisma 9g, two cups of water, fry for seven minutes, add an appropriate amount of wine, take before food.
For those with cold stagnation, add 5g of cinnamon and 3g of Evodia; add 6g of gardenia for those with excessive internal heat and insufficient blood exposure; add 6-10g of Taiwan black medicine for those with mild blood deficiency; add 10g of Achyranthes chinensis for blood deficiency and astringency; If blood stasis is not enough, add 10g of peach kernel (for peeling and tip), 9g of hematoxylin and 12g of Corydalis; for those with extreme blood stasis and dry stool, add 3~5g of yellow jalapeno.
Zhang Jingyue used this formula to add and subtract according to different disease syndromes.
According to clinical needs, we removed the green skin, Alisma, and black medicine in this recipe, and added 10g of red peony root, 9g of Achyranthes sichuanensis and peach kernel each, and 6~9g of mugwort leaves.
That is, 10g each of Salvia, red peony root, peach kernel and safflower, 9g each of Cyperus officinalis, raw hawthorn, 6g Artemisia argyi, 10g Achyranthes sichuanensis, and 12g Poria. It is best to take the medicine after the menstrual cycle, and then stop after the menstrual cycle.
03
stasis removal method
This method is the most powerful in removing blood stasis and removing old menstruation. It not only uses Taohong Siwu Decoction to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, but also uses Sanleng, Curcuma, etc. to eliminate symptoms and disperse accumulation. , amenorrhea, severe dysmenorrhea, dysmenorrhea due to endometriosis, etc., the representative formulas are promoting menstrual decoction, Zhuyu decoction and so on.
Jingjing Decoction comes from "Medical Tradition". The specific prescriptions are: Cyperus officinalis, Shudi 10g each, red peony root, curcuma 12g each, Mutong 5g, hematoxylin 9g, Angelica 10g, Chuanxiong 5g, safflower 10g, cinnamon (after the next ) 5g, peach kernel 9g, licorice 3g.
This prescription was used to treat the woman's menstrual problems and pain in her lower back and abdomen.
According to the clinical situation, we removed Mutong and licorice in the original recipe, and added 10g each of Zelan leaves, Achyranthes sichuanensis and psyllium chinensis.
The reason why people go to Mutong is because Mutong is bitter and cold, although it can enter the blood and reduce dampness, but after all, it is not good for blood circulation, and the varieties of Mutong are mixed, Guan Mutong is poisonous, contains aristolochic acid, and damages the kidneys. Sanyemutong is the real woodtong, but pharmacies often use Guanmutong instead, so it is gone.
Zelan leaves and psyllium can remove dampness and turbidity, and have the function of clearing the meridians and improving the orifices.
Fang Zhongchuan Achyranthes, Curcuma and Cinnamon are the main herbs in Wenjing Decoction contained in "Women's Complete Recipe".
In fact, this recipe summarizes the three recipes of Wenjing Decoction, Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction and Tuohuajian. For those with severe stasis and poor menstruation, this recipe can be used, or based on this recipe according to the condition Changes are added and subtracted.
04
Addition and subtraction of menstrual adjustment
The emphasis of menstrual adjustment is to remove old menstruation, so when applying light, medium and heavy menstrual adjustment methods, appropriate addition and subtraction must be made according to the characteristics of the menstrual period.
The treatment characteristics of menstrual period can be summarized into six aspects: "warming, clearing, lowering, benefiting, heart, and kidney", namely, warming yang, dredging, descending, dampening, calming the heart, and benefiting the kidney, which are hereby introduced separately.
- Wenyang
Those who need to warm Yang during menstruation have two meanings:
The first is to warm the yang, that is, to warm the meridians. When the blood is warm, it travels, and when it is cold, it condenses. This is the principle of nature. Moisture and turbidity can also be decomposed by temperature, and when it is warm, it is beneficial. Of course, those who have cold are more suitable for this.
Second, those who warm Yang are also used for Chongyang. Menstrual cramps can only be possible under the premise that Chongyang must be yin.
To ensure the smooth excretion and transformation of menstruation can ensure the smooth excretion and transformation of menstruation, so adding some yang-warming drugs during menstruation, such as mugwort, cinnamon, Taiwan black medicine, ruodia, etc., will help smooth menstruation, but if the fire is forcing the blood to move recklessly, then inappropriate.
Second, dredging
The menstrual period is a period of excretion of menstruation, removal of the old and welcoming the new, and it must be kept unobstructed.
Although dredging focuses on blood, it also includes qi, because qi is the commander of blood, qi moves blood, and qi moves wet and turbid, and it is easy to differentiate, so "menstrual period is mainly to regulate menstruation". Unobstructed meaning.
Therefore, while using Angelica, Chuanxiong, Zelan, Motherwort, etc. during the menstrual period, qi-regulating products such as Cyperus officinalis, Muxiang, and Wuyao can be added to maintain smooth menstruation.
Three, dampness
The reason why people need to remove dampness and turbidity during menstruation contains a certain profound meaning.
Menstrual cramps, which appear to be menstrual cramps on the surface, are actually menstrual water. Menstrual blood contains a lot of water and liquid turbidity, which is the result of heavy yin, and if the released eggs are not fertilized, they must be fallen eggs. The tract, including the residual fluid in the ovary, also needs to be excreted through menstruation.
If it is not eliminated, it will be left behind and become a problem, so it is extremely important to remove dampness and turbidity.
Generally, during the menstrual period, Zelan, Poria, Achyranthes, Yiren, and even Plantain, Puhuang, Qumai, Verbena, Late Silkworm Sand, etc. can be added according to the disease, but those with menorrhagia, qi deficiency, and kidney deficiency are not solid. Not suitable.
- Decline
The menstrual period is the period when Chongyang turns to Yin, from rising to falling, and from Yang to Yin, so the descending movement during this period is also the beginning of the Yin-long movement, and the opening of the uterus has the effect of diarrhoea, and the diarrhoea also descends. .
Therefore, the menstrual cycle must be lowered to regulate menstruation and eliminate old age. Generally, Achyranthes, Cinnamon Radix, Salvia miltiorrhiza are used, and peach kernels and Citrus aurantium can also be added. The purpose is to make the menstrual blood flow smoothly.
- Peace of mind
Peace of mind, peace of mind. The predecessors said that if the heart qi drops and the cells are smooth, the menstrual flow can be smooth.
We believe that the uterus is connected to the heart by the blood vessels and collaterals, and is dominated by the heart. Only when the mind is peaceful and the heart qi is lowered can the uterus open normally and the menstrual flow smoothly.
Therefore, choosing Salvia miltiorrhiza, Bai Ziren, Acacia bark, amber, Fushen, etc. during menstruation is to meet the requirements of smooth excretion during menstruation and excretion.
- Yishen
Those who benefit the kidney also nourish the kidney yin. The predecessors believed that the uterus was related to the kidney by the vasculature.
The heart is in control of its opening to the effect of purging; the kidney is in control of its closure for the function of exercising and storing. The menstrual period also has the function of hiding.
The so-called Tibetan means that there is storage in the diarrhea, so that the meridians are completely and cleanly discharged, but it does not consume the righteous energy and excrete the substances that should not be excreted, so it is necessary to nourish the kidney.
For those who benefit the kidney during the menstrual period, it needs to be used under the premise of diarrhea. For medicinal purposes, such as Chuanxutuan, Achyranthes, Shigoji, Shudi, etc., if necessary, Eucommia ulmoides, Psoralea, etc. can be added.
